Provides Medical Nutrition Therapy care services including nutrition assessment, intervention and education.  Provides education via webinars, lectures and seminars.  Participates in Health Fairs and other community events.  Participates in QAPI and MSA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Understands and follows Food Safety Standards. Wears gloves when appropriate. Uses thermometers to check temperatures. Knows food danger zone. Refrigerates items promptly. Washes hands thoroughly and frequently. Wears hair restraint appropriately. Keeps cleaning cloths in sanitizing solution 2. Uses chemicals safely and appropriately. Uses correct chemical in proper dilution. Never mixes chemicals. Reports any chemicals missing labels. Utilizes PPE when required 3. Attends meetings, including daily huddle. Regularly attends unit meetings/care conferences as scheduled. Regularly attends department meetings 4. Performs other tasks/projects as requested. Willingly accepts additional tasks/projects as assigned by a manager. Takes initiative to complete unassigned tasks without being prompted 5. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job related hazards, and national patient safety goals. 6. Ensures positive customer relations interactions.  Manages difficult or emotional customer situations Responds promptly to customer needs Solicits customer feedback to improve service Responds to requests for service and assistance Meets commitments

Key Accountabilities 1. Maintains required credentials: Kentucky Licensure, Commission on Dietetic Registration, and CPR certification 2. Performs nutrition assessment. Provides complete assessment. Performs in a timely manner. Evaluates need for care plan. Includes age specific issues. 3. Provides nutrition intervention. Determines appropriate intervention. Provides intervention in a timely manner. Evaluates effectiveness of intervention. Includes age specific issues. 4. Educates patients and families. Utilizes appropriate level of materials. Individualizes the education. Evaluates the effectiveness. Includes age specific aspects. 5. Communicates appropriately. Documents in EPIC using ADIME charting. Completes documentation in a timely manner. Communicates pertinent information to the appropriate people. 6. Participates in Health Fairs. Utilizes appropriate materials. Presents display in an attractive manner. 7. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities. Documents outcomes. Recommends processes for improvement. 8. Reports daily activity to manager. Uses time productively. Submits report in a timely manner. Provides follow-up to patients. Follows-up within specified time frame. Assists patient in meeting established goals. 10. Completes DevelopYou competencies as assigned. 11. Prioritizes workload. Develops daily goals. Documents completion and establishes follow-up dates. 12. Provides nutrition presentations. Presents a professional image. Provides appropriate information. Includes age specific issues. 13. Provides relief coverage for other dietitians. Performs appropriate nutrition assessment intervention and education for other patient care units and/or outpatient settings.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures/Certifications/Registrations Required Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition or Dietetics required. Kentucky Dietician License, CDR (Commission on Dietetic Registration), and CPR certification. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the newborn (0 - 28 days), infant (29 days - 1 year), child (1 - 12 years), adolescent (13 - 18 years), adult (19 - 59 years) and geriatric (over 59 years) patient including principles of growth and development over the life span of the patient. Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs and provides the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures. Working Conditions Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. May require working in confined spaces. Requires working in areas with low to moderate levels of noise. Requires working in areas where floor may be wet from spills or mopping. Requires standing and sitting more than 35% but less than 75% of the time. Requires walking more than 35% of the time but less than 75% of the time. Requires lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. less than 35% of the time. Requires grasping objects more than 35% but less than 75% of the time. Requires talking more than 35% but less than 75% of the time. Requires hearing and seeing more than 75% of the time.
