Summary: Provides phlebotomy expertise, decision making, and problem solving skills based on in-depth knowledge of phlebotomy procedures. Performs the collection, receipt in computer, processing, and delivery of patient specimens for tests performed by the laboratory. Education / Experience:High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an approved phlebotomy training program or one year of proven experience in Hospital, Reference, or Physician Office Lab required. License / Certification: None Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Requires occasional lifting of supplies/equipment up to 25 lbs.
There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person, continuously exhibiting manual dexterity and mobility; frequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching; continuous ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less, to judge distance and space relationships; to bring objects into focus; and to distinguish and identify different colors.
Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels.
Much exposure to computer work.
Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.
Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.
Travel between facilities as required.
