Job Description
The Athletic Trainer I plays a vital role in the prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and conditions. This position is responsible for providing quality healthcare services to assigned schools and/or coverage sites.
This role serves as an ambassador for Baptist Health Care, Andrews Institute, and the Sports Medicine department, facilitating access and availability for all health care services. The Athletic Trainer I educates appropriate personnel on emergency preparedness, injury prevention, and best practices for the health, care, and well-being of student-athletes, spectators, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe work environment by following hospital and departmental precautions and procedures.
- Obtain equipment needed for quality patient care delivery at all work sites.
- Provide athletic health care services to assigned schools, groups, and/or sites in accordance with applicable sports medicine agreement(s) and within scope of practice as outlined by State of Florida.
- Document, track, and report organizational and administrative data from assigned schools and/or sites as instructed and by established deadlines.
- Participate in departmental events/services and/or activities such as preparticipation physical exams and concussion baseline testing.
- Communicate effectively with sports medicine team members, athletic health care team members, and Sports Medicine Outreach Leadership.
- Represent BHC, Andrews Institute, sports medicine outreach, and the athletic training profession positively at all times.
- Maintain current knowledge/certification/licensure and pursue professional growth and development.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or a related field (Required).
- Master's Degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or a related field (Required).
Licenses and Certifications
- Athletic Trainer Licensed in the State of Florida and Alabama (if working in Alabama) (Upon Hire Required).
- Certified Athletic Trainer (AT_BOC) (Upon Hire Required).
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association (Upon Hire Required).

- Knowledge of Sports Medicine Outreach Program operations.
- Knowledge of medical terminology in reference to Sports Medicine Outreach Program.
- Excellent communication skills and customer service.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and guidelines.

- Knowledge of operations of physician networking and referral management.
- Comfort in evaluation skills and setting up plan of care.
