The Cardiovascular Specialist I is responsible to perform all required procedures in the cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratory, operating specialized equipment including but not limited to the x-ray equipment, EP pacing systems, hemodynamic monitoring, and other specialized equipment.

The Cardiovascular Specialist I is responsible to perform all required procedures in the cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratory, operating specialized equipment including but not limited to the x-ray equipment, EP pacing systems, hemodynamic monitoring, and other specialized equipment.
Responsibilities
- Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements.
- Explains and prepares the patient for all invasive procedures.
- Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts in order to alert nurses and/or physicians to possible contradictions for procedure.
- Performs all responsibilities/duties required by the cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratory division as defined in the scope of service, to assure that the unique nature of the client is addressed.
- Train staff technologists in special procedures.
- Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the cardiac catheterization department, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality radiographs using the A.L.A.R.A. (as low as reasonably achievable) standards.
- Responsible for performing all related exams within the cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology laboratory.
- Performs various clerical duties including.
- Checks stock inventory and initiates orders.
- Trains other staff technologists and students as needed.
- Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization.
- May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
Minimum Education
- Technical Diploma/Certificate Allied Health Required or
- Associates Degree Allied Health Required or
- Bachelor's Degree Allied Health Required or
- Completed 300 hours of a clinical rotation from an allied health services program Required
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
- ACLS Provider (ACLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
- National Institutes Of Health Stroke Scale (NIH) within 90 Days Required
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS_CCI) within 18 Months Required or
- Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES_CCI) within 18 Months Required or
- Registered Technologist (ARRT) ARRT CV or ARRT VI within 18 Months Required and
- Certified Radiology Technologist Licensed State of Florida, if applicable Upon Hire Required
- State of Florida clinical license, if applicable to education. Upon Hire Required
- Specialized training in cardiovascular procedures.
