Banyan Treatment Centers 60-bed dual diagnosis facility in Castle Rock, CO is seeking a Director of Nursing to lead its nursing department; the program is still growing (average census of 40).
This role calls for a leader first — someone whose clinical expertise complements their leadership. We're looking for a strong, fair communicator who holds their team accountable, welcomes interdepartmental collaboration, and creates the conditions where solutions can actualize.
You'll oversee all nursing operations across a full-continuum facility, ensuring regulatory compliance, clinical excellence, and a nursing team that's supported, developed, and continuing to grow. This position reports to the site's Executive Director and the organization's National Director of Nursing — giving you nursing leadership support at every level, from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead all nursing operations, ensuring compliance with state, federal, Joint Commission and CARF standards
- Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff to drive accountability and clinical excellence
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, and daily nursing workflows
- Partner with medical and interdisciplinary teams to deliver integrated patient care
- Ensure accurate documentation, assessments, and EMR compliance
- Oversee medication management processes and safety initiatives
- Lead Infection Control and quality improvement efforts
- Support regulatory readiness, audits, and accreditation activities
- Develop and implement nursing policies and staff education programs
Qualifications
Required:
- Active unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Colorado
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with ASN
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible nursing leadership and management experience, demonstrating increasing responsibility for staff supervision, operational oversight, performance management, and departmental outcomes
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in behavioral health and/or mental healthcare settings
Preferred
- BSN or MSN
- Substance use treatment experience
- Experience with Kipu EMR systems
Competencies
- Working knowledge of nursing standards of care for clients with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders
- Demonstrated knowledge of accreditation standards, state and federal regulations, healthcare compliance requirements, and patient confidentiality laws
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and hold teams accountable in a regulated healthcare environment
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and documentation skills with a high attention to detail
- Ability to balance administrative responsibilities with clinical oversight in a fast-paced inpatient setting
