Banner Churchill Community Hospital is looking for Per Diem Registered Nurse Shift Lead in Fallon, Nevada. In this position you will be responsible for the inpatient departments, bed-control, nursing assignments, surge and flex staffing, and assist with patient care. This position is per diem shifts as needed, but primarily night shift coverage. Located in Fallon, Nev., Banner Churchill Community Hospital is a 25-bed licensed hospital offering the most comprehensive array of medical services in rural northern Nevada. We provide comprehensive and emergency care, including an ambulance service that covers more than 5,900 square miles. This makes us one of only two hospital-operated paramedic/EMT/EMS providers in northern Nevada. POSITION SUMMARY This position provides operational supervision of campus workflow, resource utilization and management, and operations for all clinical and non-clinical departments during assigned shift. Responds to facility emergency situations, initiates disaster notification processes, facilitates patient placement and communicates with media. CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Assesses overall staffing effectiveness and adequate throughput by ensuring the appropriate number, competency and skill mix of staff are involved in the provision of needed health care services according to census, acuity. 2. Responds to and assesses all codes and other crisis situations, implements plan, and evaluates response. Understands and utilizes the appropriate chain of command as needs arise. 3. Serves as a professional resource to patients, families, physicians, and staff by prioritizing, mediating and resolving concerns. Interprets organizational policies and facilitates patient-centered care. 4. Interprets and ensures regulatory compliance of business entity policy and procedures. Provides expertise and serves as a resource to committees and departments. 5. Demonstrates an expectation and support for continuous quality improvement. 6. Functions as a role model and encourages staff to participate in their own development. 7. May be responsible for selection, orientation, on-boarding, and retention. 8. This position must know the resources needed to resolve problems and when to use them in order to facilitate facility operations, particularly during off hours. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must possess a strong knowledge and understanding of nursing and healthcare as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor's degree in nursing. Requires a current RN license in state of practice. Requires certification for BLS. Must possess at least 1-2 years of clinical experience relevant to patient population. Demonstrates knowledge and skills of specialty area. Requires critical thinking, communication, influence, decision-making, analytical, and flexibility skills to make optimal decisions based on multiple variables and desired outcomes. Requires the ability to balance clinical skills with supervisory authority. Must have the ability to consider the ultimate impact of decisions on the unit. Must have the ability to practice skills according to department and professional standards and quality requirements. Requires New Leader Experience certification within one year.
