Base Pay Range: $21.65 - $29.76 $1 shift differential

Position Summary

The Weekend Shift Electrical Technician is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting production lines and equipment to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency. This role serves as the primary technical support during weekend operations, quickly diagnosing issues and implementing corrective actions to keep manufacturing lines running safely and efficiently. 

This position is scheduled for the 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday from 3pm - 1:30 am . Occasional first-shift hours will be required for training. 

This position reports to Manufacturing Engineering Manager.  

According to the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), this position is classified as:       

  • Non-Exempt 

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working collaboratively, staying on top of tasks, and making a meaningful impact in a production setting. Below are some key responsibilities of the role. 

Key Responsibilities 

Install, maintain, and support instruments and control systems used in industrial manufacturing processes 

Work with sensors, control valves, actuators, PLCs, HMIs, motion control systems, and related automation equipment 

Troubleshooting and Repair: 

  • Provide real-time troubleshooting and repair of electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation systems on production equipment 
  • Diagnose and resolve PLC, HMI, sensor, motion control, and electrical issues  
  • Respond to equipment work requests with urgency to ensure maximum uptime and overall equipment effectiveness  
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions 
  • Support rework efforts by diagnosing nonconforming product and implementing corrective actions to reduce scrap and improve first-pass yield 

Production Support and Continuous Improvement: 

  • Support manufacturing lines to minimize downtime and maintain production targets 
  • Assist in preventive and predictive maintenance activities 
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase reliability, throughput, and yield 
  • Assist in commissioning new equipment and validating process changes 

Documentation and Compliance: 

  • Document troubleshooting steps, repairs, and improvements in maintenance management systems 
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and applicable electrical codes 

Collaboration and Communication: 

  • Collaborate with engineers, operators, maintenance, quality, and other stakeholders to optimize control strategies and equipment performance 

Installation and Maintenance: 

  • Communicate effectively to coordinate maintenance activities, share knowledge, and address operational challenges

Required

  • 3 years of experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment 
  • Associate’s degree in Electronics, Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field 
  • Microsoft Office Suite Experience, including experience logging and communicating data through Excel spreadsheets 
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams 
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during weekend shifts 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple issues in a fast-paced environment 
  • Sense of urgency and ownership 

Preferred

  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments  
  • Hands-on experience with PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)  
  • Experience with CMMS software such as Mpulse or EPAC  
  • Familiarity of Banner product  
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience

  • Ability to perform manual tasks including but not limited to operation of hand and power tools
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
  • Ability to bend and maneuver in tight, cramped quarters
  • Able to grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as, but not limited to, hand tools and machine parts
  • Ability to read, write, communicate, and understand instructions and procedures in English
  • Ability to work outside of a normal shift rotation during call-outs or planned maintenance outage
  • Ability to use arms, hands, and fingers, to reach, handle, and feel to complete tasks

  • Exposure to moderate noise, moving mechanical parts, and temperature changes in production areas.
  • Manufacturing environment – indoor and climate-controlled.
  • PPE may be required in specific areas (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection)
