Base Pay Range: $80,161 – $113,093

Position Summary

As an Applications Engineer, you’ll play an important role by providing high level technical product support and training for our customers, sales channel partners and internal Banner employees. This role will be involved with new and existing products within our Safety business units. 

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working both individually and collaboratively, staying on top of tasks, and making a meaningful impact across teams and projects. Below are some key responsibilities of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership as a subject matter expert (SME) in the industrial safety product support area.
  • Providing high-level technical consultation and product support to Banner Area Sales Managers, Field Sales Representatives, distributors, and customers across diverse industrial automation applications.
  • Managing and prioritizing multiple channels of communication including phone, email, chat, and direct sales team inquiries, ensuring consistent, responsive technical service
  • Collaborating with Product Development and Engineering staff to develop technical modifications to existing products to meet unique application requirements.
  • Assist with conducting final testing of product hardware, software, and user experience simulations prior to release.
  • Review technical publications and training materials for accuracy and content effectiveness.
  • Acting as a mentor and technical resource to Associate and Applications Engineers, supporting skill development, onboarding, and career progression.
  • Identifying and communicating field trends, customer needs, and common failure points to inform continuous improvement in products, documentation, and support processes.
  • Assisting with product training for internal and external audiences, both in-person and remotely.
  • Participating in cross-functional efforts aligned with organizational goals, including fostering a collaborative team culture, and advancing best practices in performance and communication

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in applications engineering
  • Expertise in programming and working with industrial machine safeguarding products such as safety light curtains, relays, controller or PLCs, and emergency stop devices.
  • Experience working within an industrial automation environment
  • Customer support experience
  • Strong desire to understand how things work
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate across teams, manage multiple priorities and forward thinking
  • Ability to travel occasionally (up to 10% of the time) to domestic trade shows and customer facilities

Preferred

  • Industrial automation controls including networking and industrial communication
    • Familiar with CIP Safety, Profisafe, FSOE, Protocols
  • Comfortable delivering product training to groups of 15-30 students
  • Navigation and interpretation of safety standards
  • Conducted safety risk assessments
  • Experience using Office 365, Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Oracle CRM preferred
