Job Summary:

Banner Northlake Therapeutic is a therapeutic day school dedicated to serving middle and high school students with intellectual disabilities, autism, specific learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, and other health impairments. We seek compassionate and dedicated Teacher’s Assistants to support our students in achieving academic, social, and emotional growth in a structured and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Provide academic and behavioral support to students in individual and small group settings.
  • Assist with classroom management, including de-escalation techniques and reinforcement of positive behaviors.
  • Support students in developing social-emotional and self-regulation skills.
  • Help create and maintain a structured, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Supervise students during non-instructional times, such as lunch, recess, and activity transitions.
  • Support students with daily living skills as needed.
  • Document student progress and behaviors as directed by the classroom teacher or school administration.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other school staff to ensure a cohesive student support system.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and professional development sessions as required.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, special education, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational or therapeutic setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to handle challenging behaviors calmly and professionally.
  • Willingness to participate in crisis intervention and behavior management training.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must pass a background check and meet all state and school employment requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and engage with students for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and support students as needed, including physical intervention in crises (training provided).

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
