The role of Cardiovascular Special Procedures Technologist Lead requires an experienced leader who is passionate about teaching and building a culture of excellence within our Cath Lab. The SPT Lead RT will serve as a hands-on clinical expert, scrubbing, panning, and assisting in complex structural heart, PCI, and cardiogenic shock cases, while mentoring our Special Procedures Tech team and leading quality improvement initiatives and audits. This individual will also be instrumental in optimizing inventory and operational performance, bringing a “raise the bar” mindset and a collaborative, partnership-driven approach to continuous CCL improvement.
Location: Banner University Medical Center- Phoenix
Shift: 4 10-hour shifts from 7am-5:30pm, Monday - Friday with night, weekend and holiday call

Position Summary
This position facilitates services and provides clinical support within the department. Performs prescribed procedures as directed by following department/facility policies, procedures and protocols. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to organize and provide care appropriate to patient population. This position functions within the Cath Lab department of the assigned facility.
Core Functions
This job profile is utilized at facilities with a high acuity Cath lab that performs structural heart or primarily complex intervention cases. Completion of a Cardiovascular Invasive program or equivalent experience.
Requires ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology (RT) as required by state law. Licensure and/or certification(s) as required by state regulatory agency, if applicable. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required where applicable.
Requires post primary certifications with minimum of 5 years’ Cath Lab, Electrophysiology (EP) or equivalent experience OR 7 years Cath Lab, EP or equivalent with at least 3 years in a high acuity/structural heart or most complex interventions.
Demonstrated expertise in high acuity/structural heart or most complex interventions.
Proficient in various Cath Lab procedures and techniques. This position requires the ability to maintain professional decorum in highly stressful emergent situations. This position requires the ability to respond quickly to the needs of the health care staff and patients.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Additional Related Education And/or Experience Preferred.

- Provides or facilitates patient care for patient populations and serves as a resource to staff for clinical support. Assumes responsibility for direct patient care when necessary. Promotes interdisciplinary patient care planning and patient education. Performs prescribed procedures in accordance with established departmental/facility policies and procedures. Provides cost effective care while considering patient satisfaction and customer service.
- Demonstrates leadership qualities in support of department needs and collaborates with various departments, outside vendors, and other departments to assure adequate resources and the proper coordination of safe, efficient patient care management.
- Serves as a resource for patients, families, providers and staff in providing care by facilitating patient flow. Assists in the interpretation of department/facility/system policies within the clinical setting.
- Participates in staff development, orientation, education and evaluation of clinical competencies. Mentors staff to increase clinical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Supports change and assists in the development, interpretation, implementation and evaluation of the process improvement and quality management activities of the department/system. May serve as QA and clinical educator. May coordinate and assist in development of QI/QC projects. Participates in committees as assigned.
- Monitors staff usage and ensures staffing meets patient needs in a fiscally responsible manner. Helps ensure the efficient operation of workflow of the department.
- Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to imaging practice. Maintains confidentiality of all work information. Adheres to safety policies.
- Internal customers: All levels of medical imaging and nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients and family members.
