Boiler Technician
Boiler Technicians install, troubleshoot, and repair industrial burners, burner management systems, safety controls, and combustion systems on commercial and industrial boilers. This includes flame safeguard controls, UDCs, liquid level controls, modulating motors, servo motors, gas pressure switches, fan motors, pressure and temperature sensors and controls, oil metering valves, airflow switches, flame detectors, actuators, ignition transformers, and purge timers from Honeywell, Siemens, Fireye, Cleaver Brooks and other manufacturers.
They work with diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, gas analyzers, and computer diagnostic software to ensure boilers operate safely and reliably. They measure flue gas readings to tune burner systems for maximum efficiency. They also perform maintenance and repair services to boilers and other, related equipment such as deaerator tanks, feed water systems, pumps, and heat exchangers.
This job requires exceptional troubleshooting skills, a working understanding of state and NBIC boiler codes, proficiency with high and low voltage industrial electrical systems and components, a solid understating of combustion technologies and concepts, good verbal and written communication skills, moderate physical labor, a valid driver’s license and a successful background check.
The candidate must be willing to work overtime as needed to meet production demands. They must possess the ability to read, interpret and follow technical documentation. He/she must demonstrate good mechanical aptitude as well as a logical mindset to troubleshoot complex systems and isolate faulty components.
