Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Boiler Mechanic to join our team. This role is responsible for making R-coded weld repairs, replacing tubes, performing preventative maintenance, and installing and repairing piping systems on packaged steam boilers for our industrial and commercial clients. The ideal candidate brings a heavy focus on ASME code compliant repairs, precision tube replacement, and boiler system troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Coded Welding & Repairs: Perform pressure-retaining welded repairs on ASME-coded boilers and pressure vessels strictly adhering to the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) "R" stamp program.
- Tube Replacement: Handle full and partial tube replacements (rolling and welding) in packaged fire-tube steam boilers.
- Piping Systems: Install, modify, and repair high-pressure steam, water, and gas piping systems.
- Auxiliary Systems: Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Deaerators, feedwater pumps, surge tanks, and associated boiler room infrastructure.
- System Installation: Assist with the rigging, setting, and complete installation of new boiler systems and central plant equipment (preferred).
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of direct experience as a certified welder performing repairs on ASME-coded boilers under an active "R" stamp certificate holder.
- Welding Certifications: Must be able to pass a 6G pipe welding test (GTAW/SMAW) and qualify under ASME Section IX.
- Technical Skills: Proven proficiency in rolling fire-tube boiler tubes and troubleshooting complex feedwater systems.
- Safety: Strong working knowledge of OSHA safety standards, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and confined space entry.
