Position Summary


The Ag/Commercial Loan Officer will originate and service a wide variety of agricultural and commercial loans in the market area we serve. The position will be located in Cambridge and Annawan. Responsible for finding, soliciting, managing and growing relationships to serve the Ag/Commercial financial needs of the communities in accordance with the policies and practices of BankORION. Responsible for developing new business, structuring, and closing of commercial loans. The Ag/Commercial Loan Officer will maintain and service newly developed relationships as well as an assigned commercial loan portfolio. Lender will assist in underwriting. The individual will be proficient in identifying and cross-selling other bank products and services. Represent the bank at community events or activities to establish and maintain strong community relationships and Bank visibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Evaluate credit worthiness by processing loan applications and documentation within specified limits.
  • Interview applicants to determine financial eligibility and feasibility of granting loans.
  • Determine all applicable ratios and metrics and set up debt payment plans.
  • Communicate with clients either to request or to provide information.
  • Justify decisions (approvals/rejections) and report on them.
  • Update job knowledge on types of loans and other financial services.
  • Maintain and update loan records.
  • Assess customer needs, explore all options and introduce different types of loans.
  • Develop referral networks, suggest alternate channels and cross-sell products and services.
  • Responsible for developing new business.
  • Meet calling goals, conduct follow-up calls and maintain well-documented logs of marketing efforts.
  • Manage assigned customer relationships for retention and increase financial business with the bank.
  • Collects and analyzes information that reflects the credit worthiness of customers/prospects and the merits of new loan opportunities.
  • Ability to negotiate terms and structure loan financing based on risk considerations.
  • Advise customers, as needed, concerning financial matters.
  • Manage delinquency and credit risk.
  • Resolve customer problems and act as liaison with other departments of the Bank.
  • Review loan agreements and other documents to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to policies.
  • Make decisions on loans within any assigned lending authority or present loans to senior lenders, Loan Committee or the Board of Directors.
  • Maintain current familiarity with all applicable laws and regulations along with all lending related policies.
  • Participate in community affairs to increase the bank’s visibility and to enhance new business opportunities.
  • Must maintain a level of professionalism including attire, attitude, time management, and securing confidential information.
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, contracts, credit, and financial documents as well as other legal documents.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical capabilities as well as an understanding of credit underwriting and loan documentation.
  • Ability to present, sell and service bank products and services as well as demonstrate professional knowledge of commercial lending.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Working Conditions


In office work with exposure to some noise. Bending, stooping, and minimal lifting required up to
10lbs. Sitting, standing, and walking required.

Background


Education Required Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, or related field.
Experience Preferred 1-5 years of Loan origination and lending experience, Solid history with a commercial/ag loan portfolio, credit analyst or equivalent financial experience. Working knowledge of rules and regulations associated with commercial lending and banking in general.

PTO: Starting out at three weeks per year (pro-rated first year), increasing by four hours every January and 10 paid holidays.

Salary : $50,000 - $90,000
