Production Technician Helper - Days & Nights

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT:

With reasonable accommodation if required, assist the Production Technician in printing high-quality security documents that meet or exceed customer requirements while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS OF THE POSITION:

Assist Lead Production Technician: Collaborate closely with the Lead Production Technician to ensure smooth press operations. This includes tasks such as:

• Changing Rolls on Press: Assist in loading and unloading paper rolls, ensuring a continuous supply of materials to the press to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
• Washing and Cleaning for the Presses: Participate in the cleaning and maintenance of press components and equipment to ensure optimal print quality and prolong the lifespan of machinery.
• Equipment Maintenance: Support maintenance efforts by conducting routine checks, lubrication, and minor repairs under the guidance of experienced technicians to prevent breakdowns and ensure equipment reliability.
• Troubleshooting: Collaborate with the Production Technician to identify and troubleshoot common issues that may arise during the printing process, contributing to efficient problem-solving and minimizing disruptions.
• Operational Efficiency: Contribute to maintaining a well-organized workspace by adhering to established procedures for inventory management, waste reduction, and efficient resource utilization.
• Quality Assurance: Assist in monitoring print quality, color consistency, and adherence to customer specifications. Communicate any deviations or concerns to the Process Technician promptly to maintain high standards of excellence.
• Safety and Security: Actively adhere to all safety protocols, security regulations, and company policies to ensure a secure working environment. Report any potential hazards or breaches to supervisors immediately.
• Continuous Learning: Demonstrate a proactive attitude toward learning the intricacies of the printing process, press operations, and new technologies. Seek opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge to contribute effectively to the team.
• Flexibility: Be open to working day or night shifts, including extended 12-hour shifts, to accommodate production schedules and operational demands.
• Additional Duties: Undertake other tasks as assigned by supervisors or management to support the overall functioning of the printing department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in basic math, including weights, measures, fractions, and decimals, to accurately measure and calculate materials.
• Some previous printing or bindery experience is advantageous, demonstrating familiarity with printing processes and equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude: Ability to grasp the fundamental principles of machinery operation and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
• Good visual acuity and color vision: Ability to discern subtle color variations and ensure accurate color reproduction.
• Physical Stamina: Capable of standing, walking, and bending for extended periods (10-12 hours) and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs safely.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work rotating shifts, including day and night hours.
• Adherence to Security: Must consistently uphold stringent security and safety regulations related to the printing of security documents.
