OVERVIEW:
Provide commercial real estate lending products and services to existing and new customers to North Shore Bank. Service an established commercial real estate loan portfolio and expand North Shore Bank’s commercial real estate customer base. Cross-sell deposit and cash management products and generate referrals for retail products. Call on existing customers, prospects, and referral sources to achieve loan and deposit production goals and to meet individual calling plans. Ensure compliance with credit policies and procedures and manage a commercial loan portfolio according to established standards. Actively participate in community organizations as a Bank representative.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Development and Sales
Expands North Shore Bank’s commercial real estate customer base, achieving sales and calling goals. Enhances the profitability of existing relationships through loan pricing, deposit and fee generation, and active cross selling of all Bank products. Develops and completes a calling plan on established customers and referral sources, allowing for increased activity with new lending prospects.
Customer Service
Delivers consistently superior service to customers. This includes responding to all requests quickly, meeting regularly with customers, and acting as a liaison for customers to other North Shore Bank divisions.
Risk Management and Underwriting
- Commercial Real Estate loan officers will conduct customer interviews, negotiation, investigation and analysis; Gathers and interprets loan applications, financial statements and information, appraisal, environmental reports, credit reports and reference checks.
- Analyzes loan applicants to determine feasibility of granting loan. If appropriate, prepares loan proposals and negotiates loan repayment options, pricing and other credit terms. Confers with colleagues in the credit evaluation and proposal preparation process, as necessary.
- May prepare loan credit presentations, preferably after loan proposal acceptance. Clearly identifies credit risks and any policy exceptions. Refers recommended loans to Credit department for analysis according to established procedures. Complies with loan and pricing policies.
- Consummates properly approved loans by securing all necessary notes, guarantees, security and mortgage agreements, and related loan documents. Reviews documents for accuracy and compliance with approved loan terms.
- Assumes responsibility for the overall management of loan and deposit relationships assigned. Risk management duties include and will be conducted in concert with credit administration the collecting of required financial information and maintaining comprehensive and current credit files and comments. Assigns and periodically reviews loan risk ratings. Resolves promptly any credit data or administration, legal or loan review exceptions. Identifies loan workout situations and communicates to manager promptly and confers with associates and collection department to develop and implement an action plan.
- Maintains acceptable asset quality performance levels according to Bank’s standards, including loan delinquency, and line expiration and loan maturity date renewals.

- Foster a sense of teamwork and mutual support within the bank, in order to accomplish the bank’s goals.
- Be active in community organizations as a North Shore Bank representative, especially those promoting economic development and affordable housing, in order to be a good community partner and develop new business.
- Adheres to the Bank’s Code of Ethics and Bank’s overall policies.
- Performs related and unrelated duties as may be required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Finance, or equivalent experience
- 7 to 10 years Commercial Real Estate lending (CRE) experience
- Must have a strong and established network of customers and/or referral sources and previous supervised credit training.
- Proven track record of loan production and outside calling skills
- Proven ability to develop, retain, and expand customer relationships
- Excellent communication, management, analytical and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of banking policies/procedures/regulations/underwriting/portfolio management responsibilities
- Experience in Commercial Banking Credit Analysis and Portfolio Management
- SBA loan originating experience, prefer
- Strong knowledge in banking policies/procedures/regulations/SBA Lending
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software program
