What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Steel Fitter position at Banker Steel?
Required Skills:
- Read and interpret blueprints.
- Experience in FCAW welding/fitting, structural steel background preferred.
- Recognize and understand weld symbols.
- Accurately read a tape line.
- Able to properly gouge material
- Does minor layouts for jigs and floor laydowns
- Independently reads and interprets blueprints for fitting
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and/or other employees
- Able to independently perform the attached work with minimal errors/rework and within the time allotted
- May perform more complex work with assistance or under direct supervision
- Weld components in vertical or horizontal position.
- Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
- Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
- Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
- Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
- Understand and follow company and OSHA safety rules.
- Must be able to constantly work in various indoor conditions including hot and cold temperatures, dust and noisy conditions.
- Must be able to lift a maximum weight up to 20 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to carry a maximum weight up to 20 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching forward, balancing, feeling, object handling, simple hand grasping, firm hand grasping, and operating controls will be required.
- Regular sitting, climbing stairs and ladders, reaching overhead, stooping, and crouching will be required.
