General Function:
The position is responsible for assuming overall responsibility for the residential mortgage loan process from application to close, including underwriting evaluation, and collections.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop new and expand both internal and external referral sources to grow mortgage business.
- Interview mortgage loan applicants to collect and analyze financial data to determine the merits of the specific loan request.
- Establish and negotiate loan terms including costs, repayment method and repayment schedule.
- Advise customers concerning financial matters.
- Review all documents to ensure risk exposure, Loan-to-Value, credit scores, Debt-to-Income ratios, ability to repay, etc.
- Review appraisals for accuracy and completeness.
- Complete and communicate underwriting decision and explain conditions, if any.
- Request and review closing documents and conduct loan closings.
- As necessary, assist with collection activities related to past due mortgage loans.
- Maintain knowledge of Bank policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance of all state, federal laws and banking regulatory laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent mandatory.
- 3 or more years of residential mortgage lending experience.
- NMLS license.
- Knowledge of mortgage loan products, processing, underwriting, and closing guidelines.
- Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to cross-sell financial products and services.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Demonstrated teamwork and customer service skills.
- Proven computer skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
