Job Title: Loan Officer
Location: Bloomington-Normal, IL

Reports to: Chief Lending Officer
Average hours per week: 40
Required Hours Availability: Monday through Friday 8AM to 5PM
Salary Range: $65,000 to $100,000
Job Summary:
The Loan Officer is responsible for managing and growing an existing loan portfolio while originating new business in the Bloomington–Normal market. This role requires a strong understanding of credit analysis, banking products, sales, and loan collections, with an emphasis on bringing and expanding an existing book of business. The successful candidate will act as a loan officer who balances production, credit quality, and portfolio performance while working collaboratively as a team player within the lending department.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Portfolio Management & Credit Quality
- Manage and retain an existing loan portfolio, ensuring strong credit quality and client satisfaction
- Perform annual reviews, financial analysis, and risk assessments
- Proactively identify and address potential credit concerns
- Ensure accurate risk grading and compliance with loan policy
Collections & Past-Due Management
- Actively manage and collect past-due and criticized loans within assigned portfolio
- Work directly with borrowers to resolve delinquencies through payment arrangements, restructures, or other corrective actions
- Partner with credit administration and special assets teams as needed
- Take ownership of portfolio performance, including minimizing losses and charge-offs
Business Development
- Bring and grow a personal book of business in the Bloomington–Normal and surrounding markets
- Generate new loan and deposit relationships through referrals, networking, and community involvement
- Cross-sell additional bank products to deepen existing relationships
Credit & Underwriting
- Analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and collateral
- Structure credit requests that meet borrower needs while aligning with bank risk standards
- Prepare and present loan requests, renewals, and modifications for approval
- Maintain compliance with regulatory and internal credit requirements
Sales & Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for clients
- Clearly communicate loan structures, terms, and requirements
- Deliver a responsive, high-touch client experience
Team & Collaboration
- Serve as a team player, collaborating closely with credit staff, operations, compliance, and other lenders
- Support department goals and contribute to a positive, cooperative culture
- Share market insight and assist teammates when needed
- Participate in loan committees, meetings, and internal initiatives
Community & Market Presence
- Represent the bank through community and professional involvement
- Maintain awareness of market trends, competitors, and local economic conditions
- Strengthen the bank’s reputation in the Bloomington–Normal market

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5 years of lending or banking experience preferred
- Proven ability to manage an existing loan portfolio, including past-due and criticized credits
- Demonstrated success in new loan production and bringing an existing book of business
- Strong working knowledge of credit underwriting, collections, and risk management
- Sales-oriented mindset with strong relationship management skills
