Position Summary
The Personal Banker serves as a primary relationship contact for consumer and small business customers of the Bank. This position is responsible for delivering high‑quality customer service, opening and maintaining deposit accounts, identifying customer needs, and recommending appropriate banking products and services. The Personal Banker supports the Bank’s relationship‑based community banking model while ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service & Relationship Support
- Provide professional, courteous service to consumer and business customers in person, by phone, and through electronic channels.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships consistent with the Bank’s community banking philosophy.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for customers regarding deposit products, electronic services, and account maintenance.
Account Opening & Maintenance
- Open, maintain, and close consumer and business deposit accounts, including checking, savings, certificates of deposit, IRAs, HSAs, and related services.
- Assist business customers with routine treasury and account‑related needs appropriate to the role, and coordinate referrals to lending or treasury management staff as needed.
- Prepare account documentation, disclosures, and system entries accurately and in a timely manner.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Perform customer identification and verification in accordance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and internal policies.
- Ensure compliance with consumer protection regulations, privacy requirements, and information security standards.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of customer and Bank information.
Sales & Referrals (Relationship‑Based)
- Identify customer financial needs through effective conversation and observation.
- Recommend appropriate Bank products and services for both personal and business customers.
- Generate quality referrals to internal partners, including lending, mortgage, and other business lines.
- Support branch performance goals while maintaining a customer‑focused, non‑pressure approach.
Branch Operations Support
- Perform teller or universal banking functions as assigned, including cash handling and transaction processing.
- Assist with debit cards, online and mobile banking, electronic payments, and routine service issues.
- Resolve routine customer inquiries and escalate more complex matters to management as appropriate.
- Participate in required training and remain current on Bank products, services, and regulatory changes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work effectively with both consumer and business customers.
- Working knowledge of consumer and small business deposit products in a community bank environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in transactions and documentation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify needs and explain financial products clearly and professionally.
- Proficiency with core banking systems, digital banking platforms, and Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a branch setting.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post‑secondary education in business, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Prior experience in retail banking, financial services, or customer‑facing roles preferred.
- Experience assisting small business customers is a plus.
Working Conditions
- Office/branch environment with frequent face‑to‑face customer interaction.
- May require rotating Saturdays and flexible scheduling based on branch needs.
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
