Portfolio Manager Position
The Loan Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing and monitoring a portfolio of new and existing loan relationships to ensure credit quality, regulatory compliance, and portfolio profitability. The Portfolio Manager partners closely with Relationship Managers to analyze financial information, assess credit risk, prepare credit presentations, packaging loan files, monitor covenant compliance, and support ongoing servicing of commercial borrowers. Limited travel may be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Portfolio Management
- Manage and monitor an assigned portfolio of various loan relationships, primarily consisting of commercial, commercial real estate, and mortgage loans
- Assist in performing credit analysis and risk assessment of borrowers, if needed.
- Review and compile the necessary financial statements, tax returns, and other credit information
- Conduct periodic loan and file reviews in accordance with bank policy.
- Monitor loan covenants and any reporting requirements.
- Ensure timely collection and analysis of required borrower information.
- Assist in preparation of credit memorandums and loan presentations.
- Support underwriting for new loan requests, renewals, modifications, and extensions of existing loans.
Relationship Support
- Partner with Relationship Managers to maintain strong customer relationships.
- Participate in customer meetings as needed.
- Assist in identifying cross-selling opportunities for bank products and services.
- Provide responsive support to lending teams and customers.
Risk Management and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with bank policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with internal and external loan reviews, examinations, and audits.
- Maintain accurate and updated files, including financial information and any other collateral protection.
- Support portfolio analysis efforts.
Reporting and Administration
- Maintain accurate loan documents and portfolio records
- Prepare portfolio reports for relationship managers, management, and committees
- Track any financial reporting requirements, exceptions, and other compliance
- Assist with special projects and portfolio reviews as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or other similar field preferred. Banking and other credit training preferred.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 3-7 years of banking, credit analysis, underwriting or portfolio management experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products, and ability to learn additional banking systems
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
