Join a growing community bank in Southeast Michigan. Bank Michigan is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Commercial Loan Documentation Specialist.
JOB SUMMARY
Support the production of complex commercial loan documentation originated by lending staff. Assembles, reviews, and verifies the accuracy and completion of all loan documentation necessary for loan closings. Assists and serves as a secondary backup for boarding and funding all loans on the Bank's core system. Works collaboratively with various third party sources, assembles digital files, and verifies all proper documentation and data of commercial loans. Supports and back-up for various Loan Operations tasks, as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
Primary:
- Conducts pre- and post- closing quality control review to ensure loan documentation (internally or attorney prepared), is complete and conforms to all terms and conditions of the loan approval, meets regulatory requirements, ensures collateral perfection and satisfies all closing requirements prior to This may include new money, renewals, extensions, and modifications.
- Coordinates and communicates with all bank and external partners to support the closing process, including Loan Officers, Underwriters, Title Companies, Legal Counsel and clients, with support from Senior Closing Coordinator and/or Loan Operation Manager.
- Responsible for the determination of requirements, review, and completion of due diligence associated with loan documentation and closing process in alignment with bank procedures and policies for Commercial and Consumer loans.
- Work stale-dated loans in system for decline/withdraw completeness.
- Back-up Loan Operations team in day-to-day tasks, as needed.
- Supports the review and reporting of a variety of data for several purposes (including insurance, tax delinquencies, lien positions, exceptions, etc.).
- Comprehends the legal and procedural requirements of each loan type and the corresponding processing/underwriting requirements thereof.
- Verifies all loan file data includes the proper details, with support from Senior Closing Coordinator and/or Loan Operation Manager.(i.e. legal descriptions, signatures, dates, covenants, monetary figures, etc.)
- Supports quality control review of files/documents, general file review and exception item clean-up; and performs document imaging as needed.
- Secondary support in funding loans, mailings of financial tracking request letters, annual statements,
- Support the maintenance of processes and checklists relative to tasks, as updated.
- Manages workload by actively monitoring priority and deadlines as well as tracking work in
- Responds to customer inquiries in person, written correspondence and via phone, answering
- Acts as an advocate for the Bank in all interactions both internally and externally, including overall product knowledge of deposit and loans for aligning customers/prospects with the products that best meet their needs.
- Attend regular trainings, seminars, and procedural meetings as required.
- Maintains proficiency in all computer programs and systems used to operate the loans (including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Bankway, LaserPro, DocuSign, etc.).
- Works harmoniously and collaboratively with team members, borrowers, and third party service providers to accomplish bank objectives.
Other:
- Provide exemplary customer service.
- Serve as a Notary Public as needed.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education: Associate's Degree in business, economics, finance or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Training and Experience:
Minimum of 4 years of similar prior banking experience required; prior loan operations/servicing experience required; knowledgeable with loan file structure and familiarity with loan origination software such as LaserPro, Bankway, etc. Extraordinary attention to detail and problem solving abilities. Successful completion of in-house training program. Ability to work autonomously and with little guidance. Displays the confidence and competence to gain/maintain the Bank's credibility. Takes initiative to learn, develop oneself and see things through from start to finish. Excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving and computer skills; ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers and printers.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and/or stand for long periods, stoop, bend, twist, and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to converse verbally and in writing with others.
- Ability to utilize general office equipment, Internet and various business software programs (i.e. MS office).
- Ability to travel within the community to attend various events and meetings.
