Household Assistant – Nanny/Housekeeper

Job Summary

We are looking for a reliable, flexible, and hardworking Household Assistant to help our family maintain a clean, organized, and smoothly running home.

This is a varied position. Some responsibilities, such as dishes, general cleaning, and tidying, will need to be completed regularly. Other responsibilities may change depending on what the household needs that day.

One day may involve cleaning and laundry. Another day may involve meal preparation, organizing a room, helping with the children, running an errand, or completing a household project.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and is comfortable helping wherever needed. We believe the changing responsibilities will make the position more enjoyable than doing the exact same tasks every day.

Primary Responsibilities

• Wash dishes and maintain a clean kitchen
• Complete general household cleaning
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, dust, and sanitize surfaces
• Clean bathrooms, bedrooms, and common areas
• Wash, dry, fold, organize, and put away laundry
• Change bed linens and wash towels
• Help prepare and cook family meals
• Assist with meal planning or food preparation
• Help supervise and care for children when needed
• Help children with basic activities, meals, or homework
• Organize closets, bedrooms, storage areas, and other household spaces
• Take out trash and recycling on scheduled days
• Run occasional household errands
• Help with seasonal cleaning and household projects
• Maintain an organized and safe home environment
• Communicate when household supplies are running low

Cooking

Experience cooking international food is strongly preferred.

Candidates who do not currently cook international dishes may still be considered if they:

• Are comfortable following recipes
• Are willing and able to learn
• Have general cooking experience
• Can prepare meals safely and consistently

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• Reliable transportation
• Previous cleaning, household, childcare, cooking, or personal-assistant experience preferred
• Ability to safely supervise children
• Ability to stand, bend, reach, and move throughout the home
• Ability to lift approximately 25–30 pounds when necessary
• Ability to pass a background check
• Strong references preferred

Important Information About the Position

This is not strictly a housekeeper, nanny, or cook position. It is a combination household-support role.

Daily priorities may change. The person hired must be comfortable receiving a list of priorities and helping with the areas that need the most attention that day.

Regular responsibilities will include cleaning, dishes, laundry, and general household upkeep. Additional responsibilities may include cooking, childcare, organizing, errands, and special household projects.
