What You’ll Do:
As the Social Services Director, you will oversee the entire operation of the Social Services Department. Your day-to-day will include:
- Advocacy: Acting as a mediator and advocate for resident rights and preferences.
- Clinical Leadership: Completing social histories and psychosocial assessments (OBRA guidelines) and participating in interdisciplinary care planning.
- Support & Education: Providing crisis intervention, emotional support, and education to families regarding Advance Directives, MaineCare, and discharge planning.
- Quality Improvement: Developing departmental goals and ensuring we stay ahead of federal and state regulations.
- Team Collaboration: Working harmoniously with nursing, medical, and administrative staff to create a holistic care environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Licensure: You must possess an active and valid Social Worker license.
- Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a healthcare setting (Long-Term Care experience is highly preferred!).
- The "Heart" Factor: We need someone with patience, a cheerful disposition, and the enthusiasm to handle difficult situations with tact.
- Leadership: The ability to make independent decisions and a willingness to seek out new, innovative methods of care.
Work Environment & Physicals:
- This role involves regular interaction with residents and staff throughout our well-lit, ventilated facility.
- Physical requirements include sitting/typing for periods, lifting/moving up to 15 lbs., and navigating the facility to make daily rounds.
- A flexible mindset is key—while we strive for a steady schedule, occasional weekends or holidays may be required to meet resident needs.
