We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Biller to join our healthcare administration team. As a DME Biller, you will be responsible for accurately processing billing claims, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and maintaining precise medical records. Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate billing claims for durable medical equipment using appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes.
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding and billing compliance with insurance requirements.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits for patients receiving durable medical equipment services.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective collections procedures and resubmission processes.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, claim status updates, and correspondence with insurance providers.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding discrepancies that may affect reimbursement.
- Stay current with industry regulations, updates in ICD coding standards, and changes in insurance policies affecting medical billing practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, preferably within a durable medical equipment or healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical coding systems including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding, and DRG classifications.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and electronic medical record (EMR) systems used for billing purposes.
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare reimbursement processes.
- Experience with medical collection procedures and resolving billing disputes efficiently.
- Ability to interpret complex insurance policies and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
