Aftercare Program Instructor
Bancroft School is looking for Aftercare Program Instructors to assist in the leadership and supervision of our students during our after school childcare programming. This position is available Monday - Thursday from 3:15-5:30pm and Fridays from 2:30-5:30pm. Scheduling is flexible. This position is responsible for providing a safe, engaging and nurturing environment for our students during after school hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe and healthy environment, both physically and mentally, to ensure the operation of a quality children’s program.
- Establish relationships with each child, demonstrating positive interaction with all children; talk to them and treat them with dignity and respect.
- Provide leadership and actively participate in the implementation of daily activities with enthusiasm.
- Ensure children are aware of and properly adhere to rules and daily scheduled routines.
- Direct or assist in the daily maintenance of the program areas, ensuring safety and cleanliness. Take responsibility for the quality of supplies, equipment and materials. Assume equal share of the regular housekeeping duties to include cleaning, preparing for daily activities and cleaning up after projects.
- Keep a consistent, accurate headcount on all children present; communicate changes with all other staff.
- Remain up to date and comply with all emergency procedures appropriate to program areas and in conformity with procedures adopted by emergency service authorities to ensure the safety of the children and staff.
- Report all accidents and/or behavioral incidents to the Director of Auxiliary Programs. Complete all associated paperwork properly.
- Report all suspicions of child abuse/neglect to the proper authorities.
- Work toward positive parent/staff relations by greeting and recognizing families at pick-up.
Qualification/Requirements:
- HS Diploma or General Equivalent Diploma
- Previous experience working with children
- Displays outgoing, positive personality and demeanor
- Demonstrates professionalism, reliability and dependability
- Exercises mature judgement and sound decision making
- Communicates effectively and works well in team based environments
- Must be available to work FRIDAYS
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
