We are currently seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented Landscape Pruning Specialist to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in proper pruning techniques, understands plant health, and enjoys creating clean, professional landscapes.
This is a specialized position focused primarily on pruning ornamental trees, shrubs, hedges, and landscape plants throughout the summer and fall seasons. This role works independently on a daily pruning route, servicing both residential and commercial properties while maintaining Banana Landscape's high standards of quality and professionalism.
During slower periods, this team member will assist our landscape maintenance crews and participate in snow and ice management during the winter months.
Position Overview
As a Landscape Pruning Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining the health, appearance, and structure of landscape plants on residential and commercial properties. You will work independently, traveling between properties in a company truck and trailer, completing scheduled pruning work, documenting completed services, and identifying additional recommendations that improve the health and appearance of our clients' landscapes.
Responsibilities
- Perform professional pruning of ornamental trees, shrubs, hedges, roses, ornamental grasses, and landscape plants.
- Shape plants while maintaining proper horticultural practices and long-term plant health.
- Remove dead, damaged, diseased, or overgrown branches.
- Perform seasonal pruning and landscape clean-ups.
- Work independently while managing daily routes and completing scheduled work efficiently.
- Safely drive a company truck with trailer to residential and commercial properties throughout the Treasure Valley.
- Safely operate pruning equipment including hand pruners, hedge trimmers, pole pruners, chainsaws, and other commercial landscape equipment.
- Identify plants that would benefit from corrective pruning, removal, replacement, pest or disease treatment, or other landscape improvements, and communicate recommendations to the office.
- Utilize the Jobber app to:
- Track time accurately
- Review daily work orders
- Document completed work
- Take before and after photos
- Record detailed notes describing work completed and any recommendations for the client
- Track time accurately
- Maintain clean, organized job sites and remove debris after pruning.
- Assist landscape maintenance crews with mowing, trimming, edging, air blowing, and seasonal clean-ups when needed.
- Assist with snow and ice removal services during the winter months.
- Maintain equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Represent Banana Landscape professionally while interacting with clients and the public.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of professional pruning or landscape maintenance experience REQUIRED.
- Strong knowledge of proper pruning techniques and plant health.
- Experience identifying common ornamental trees, shrubs, and landscape plants preferred.
- Experience safely driving a truck with trailer REQUIRED.
- Experience safely operating pruning equipment and commercial landscape equipment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing exceptional work.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance REQUIRED.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record REQUIRED.
- Ability to lift, carry, bend, climb ladders, and perform physical labor throughout the day.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Bonus Experience (Not Required)
Experience in any of the following is a plus:
- ISA Certified Arborist certification
- Master Gardener certification or horticulture education
- Tree and shrub health care
- Irrigation maintenance or repairs
- Landscape maintenance
- Landscape construction
- Fertilizer or pesticide application licensing
- Snow and ice removal
- Equipment maintenance and small engine repair
Pay & Benefits
- Full-Time Position
- Monday–Friday schedule (No weekend work during the regular season)
- Typical shifts are 8–10 hours/day
- Pay: DEPENDENT UPON EXPERIENCE $21.00–$28.00/hour depending on experience, plant knowledge, and qualifications.
