Full Job Description

We are looking for someone to join our preschool program. Children at Banana Fana are able to learn through direct, hands-on experiences with people, objects, events, and ideas in Spanish and English. Our teachers offer emotional and intellectual support to the students, but also allow children to make and pursue their own decisions. Teachers thus expand children’s thinking with diverse materials in the classroom and nurturing interactions. We help children become more independent, responsible, and confident. This helps them to be ready for school and ready for life.

Banana Fana Preschool is where young children will get the tools and support, they need for their healthy development. We carefully design our activities to adequately nurture the emotional, intellectual and physical growth of our students. We provide lots of hands-on learning opportunities, children are free and encouraged to explore their curiosity.

RESPONSIBILITIES (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)

• Assist in the classroom
• Provides care-giving including feeding, diapering, and napping (usually for primary care group but others as needed)
• Participates in classroom housekeeping and play yard maintenance as part of the curriculum.
• Participates in planning and implementation of emergent curriculum (based on children's interests) ex: a student is fascinated with rocket ships, you help implement and create an activity
• Works in partnership with main teacher, other teachers, and parents to provide best care for each child
• Records observations and communicates developmental information to parents and other teachers through App
• Responsible to take a minimum of 5 pictures a day (one group, and individuals)
• Maintains clean and safe classroom environment on a daily basis (including cleaning, sterilizing toys, dishes, changing areas, kitchen areas, outdoors, etc)
• Comfortably provides care and teaching in the spirit of a play-based program
• Speak Spanish 100% of the time to children

Job Qualifications

0-6 Early Childhood Education Units

Must speak Spanish

TB Clearance

CPR and First Aid certified

Physical and TB test

Proof of immunizations

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: $17.00- $21.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 4-7 hour shifts
• Shifts will be between 8:15am-4:45PM

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Teaching: 1 year (Required)
• Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

Language:

• Spanish (Required)

License/Certification:

• CPR Certification
• Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
• Background check
• Child Mandate Reporter
