What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Intern / Entrepreneur in Residence position at Bamboo?
The Student Entrepreneur in Residence is the welcoming face of Bamboo and an embedded participant in our entrepreneurial and creative ecosystem. This paid internship is designed for a student founder, artist, writer, designer, or early-stage builder who wants meaningful part-time work while developing their own ideas inside a real-world innovation environment.
This is not a traditional front desk job. During slower desk hours, interns are encouraged to actively work on their own ventures, creative practice, or coursework while gaining hands-on exposure to community operations, events, and partnerships.
This is a minimum three month paid internship ($15/hr up to 20 hours a week) with a set shift on site typically three to four days a week mornings or afternoons at Bamboo Grand Rapids, a center for entrepreneurship at 2 Fulton Downtown.
- Welcome members, guests, and partners with warmth and professionalism
- Manage daily check-ins and visitor flow
- Answer general questions about memberships, meeting rooms, and events
- Serve as a visible, approachable presence that sets the tone for the space
- Maintain organization of the front desk and common areas
- Support daily opening and closing procedures
- Flag member experience, access, or facilities issues to the Bamboo team
- Assist with event check-in and light setup as needed
- Share information about upcoming programs and partner events
- Occasionally help capture community moments (photos, short videos, notes)
