The Personal Support Advocate plays a crucial role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals in need. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of resident rights and be skilled in various caregiving practices, ensuring that all interactions are respectful and dignified.
This position is for day shifts. Candidate must be able to work 1st OR 2nd shift on any given day. No staff member only works one shift. Shifts are 6a-2p AND 2p-10p and you must be open to work either shift when scheduled.

We are seeking a candidate that will be a team player. All staff share in ALL responsibilities. This is extremely important.
Experience with behavioral clients is mandatory for this position. You must have CPI, Safety Care, Welle, or similar skills.
If you have these trainings, please make sure that your resume reflects these skills.
Simply answering the questions of whether you have the training in the employer question area will not be enough. Your resume must indicate that you have CPI training as well as experience with behavioral health clients.

Qualifications:
· Must be able to pass a criminal background check
· Must be 21 years or older
· We offer paid training for certifications that will be needed for this position.
· Valid Passport or MI Driver’s License/ID, Social Security Card and/OR Birth Certificate
· Reliable transportation is required with valid proof of car insurance
Client has behavioral issues and is a 2:1 client. He is a large male and candidates may be required to perform two person holds and need to be physically able to work with companion staff to perform this duty. He is the only client in a private residential setting,
Client has a behavior treatment plan that must be implemented by staff per the direction of the behavioral consultant. Documentation needed regarding behaviors must be done consistently on a daily basis.
Qualified candidates must be patient, empathetic, caring, and able to accept that the client has a disability and does not always have control of his own behavior. Working cohesively and amicably with coworkers is a must.
This is a unique caregiving program in Jackson. There is no agency affiliation. The parents are the guardians and manage the home on a regular basis. Parental involvement from the guardians helps to keep the plan on track. We all work as a team to provide the best care for the client.
The home is equipped with cameras and employees must be comfortable with this aspect.
Client has severe allergies and evidence of smoking of ANY KIND with evidence/smell on clothing is a deal breaker.

Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in home care with behavioral health.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is highly valued.
- Ability to cook nutritious meals for individuals with specific dietary requirements.
Duties
- Provide direct support to resident, assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting/brief changes and meal preparation.
- Advocate for resident rights by ensuring their needs and preferences are respected and met.
- Administer medications as prescribed, while adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality.
- Assist residents as necessary to promote their independence and safety.
- Implement care plans developed in collaboration with healthcare professionals and family members.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
- Document care provided accurately and timely daily.
- - Provide support and assistance to individual with developmental disabilities in a private residence
- Promote social skills by taking the client into the community to build a sense of accomplishment and helping to create good choices.
- Monitor and document patient behaviors and interactions.
- Implement care plans tailored to each individual's needs.
- Offer emotional support and companionship to individuals under your care.
- Conduct patient observation and report any changes in condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals/guardians.
Requirements
- Previous experience in caregiving or direct support roles is REQUIRED.
- Behavioral health experience outside of geriatrics is required.
- Knowledge of resident rights and advocacy principles.
- Familiarity with patient care protocols, including first aid and medication administration.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient confidentiality.
- Experience in home care or social work is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and team members.
