Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Baltimore, MD, for a Midday Host and Managing Editor at Baltimore Public Media. The role involves serving as the on-air host for midday programming, curating and presenting engaging content, conducting interviews, and connecting with listeners. Responsibilities also include overseeing editorial planning, editing content, collaborating with the newsroom team, and ensuring high-quality output that aligns with the organization’s mission. The position requires a blend of creativity, leadership, and strong storytelling capabilities to drive listener engagement and trust.
Qualifications
- Broadcasting, audio production, and live hosting experience, including proficiency in storytelling and delivering engaging on-air content.
- Content strategy, editorial oversight, and team collaboration experience to coordinate and manage daily programming effectively.
- Strong writing, editing, and grammar skills for creating, refining, and reviewing news and feature segments.
- Proficiency with digital media platforms and social media for content promotion and audience engagement.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to connect with diverse audiences and foster relationships within the community.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment without compromising quality or accuracy.
- Knowledge and passion for public radio and community-driven programming are highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting, or a related field is preferred, with equivalent experience considered.
