CarePoint Response, Inc. (CPR) is a nonprofit organization providing behavioral health crisis response services in Baltimore, including telephone crisis support, mobile crisis response teams, residential crisis services, and medical detoxification services. Since 1992, CPR has provided behavioral health crisis intervention and substance use treatment services for individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises in Baltimore.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide direct patient care and support nursing staff in delivering high-quality healthcare services. In this role, you will assist patients with daily living activities, monitor and record vital signs, collect specimens, perform phlebotomy procedures, and help ensure patient comfort and safety in a fast-paced clinical environment. You will also document patient care in Electronic Health Records (EHR), respond promptly to patient needs, and collaborate with nurses and healthcare professionals to support continuity of care while maintaining all safety, HIPAA, and facility protocols..
Essential Functions
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Monitor and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration).
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and transfers (bed to chair, etc.).
- Perform phlebotomy (drawing blood) and collect specimens.
- Provide emotional support and maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
- Operate and maintain medical equipment (e.g., EKG, blood pressure cuffs, catheters).
- Document care and observations in Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Respond to patient call lights and needs promptly.
- Uphold all safety, health, and facility protocols.
Qualifications
- Education & Credentials: High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program required. Current BLS/CPR certification (AHA preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 6 months to 2 years of experience in a hospital, clinical, or patient care setting preferred.
- Skills & Requirements:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide compassionate patient care.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and patient care procedures required.
- Ability to safely assist with lifting, transferring, and repositioning patients.
- Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR) systems preferred.
- Proficiency with basic computer systems and medical documentation preferred.
- Experience performing phlebotomy, EKGs, or specimen collection preferred.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and assisting patients throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift, move, and transfer patients safely, including occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency or high-demand situations.
