The Opportunity
We are seeking a Substance Use Counselor to provide intake, assessment, treatment planning, and counseling for clients in BCRI’s 3.7 residential treatment unit. In this role, you’ll meet clients at a pivotal point in their recovery journey — conducting biopsychosocial assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing both individual and group counseling. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that every client receives high-quality, coordinated care.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Substance Use Counselor to provide intake, assessment, treatment planning, and counseling for clients in BCRI’s 3.7 residential treatment unit. In this role, you’ll meet clients at a pivotal point in their recovery journey — conducting biopsychosocial assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing both individual and group counseling. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that every client receives high-quality, coordinated care.
What You’ll Do
- Provide individual and group counseling for clients in 3.7 residential treatment.
- Complete biopsychosocial (BPS) assessments and initial treatment plans upon admission.
- Review progress with clients and update treatment goals in collaboration with the care team.
- Document all services in Credible (electronic medical record).
- Prepare and submit initial and concurrent authorizations to payors/insurers.
- Complete discharge summaries and coordinate discharge planning with the client’s care team.
- Act as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders as assigned.
- Uphold BCRI policies, expectations, and behavioral competencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned that align with the scope of the role.
Qualifications
- Education & Credentials: Associate’s Degree and CSC-AD (or higher).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years working with individuals in the public behavioral health system (preferred).
- Skills & Requirements:
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license (required).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (required).
- Experience with EHR/EMR systems (preferred).
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk/computer and standing, bending, and reaching.
- Must occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Seeks guidance proactively to ensure safety and quality care.
