A vacancy exists in the DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS: SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT.

Definition of Responsibility
Under general supervision, supervises and participates in the receiving, storing, and issuing of materials, tools, supplies, and equipment; or independently operates a storeroom.
Examples of Essential Duties
Supervises and assists in the receipt, storage, delivery, and issuance of equipment, parts and supplies. Assigns and oversees work of other storekeepers. Prepares materials and supplies for distribution to users or other locations and departments. Coordinates stock requirements. Orders various parts and supplies and purchases tools as needed. Codifies all items according to various inventory systems. Maintains inventory accounting records of materials received and issued. Participates in taking periodic inventories. Maintains records and files. Processes and forwards invoices and the required documentation to the Office of Budget and Finance for payment. Operates forklift and other related equipment.
OR
Independently operates a storeroom. Receives, stores, and issues a complex variety of materials, tools, supplies, and equipment. Prepares items for distribution to users or other locations and departments. Keeps records of items received and issued. Locates available sources of supply. Coordinates stock requirements. Orders various items not on contract and purchases tools as needed. Expedites overdue orders. Processes warranty claims. Codifies all items according to various inventory systems. Makes County charge plates. Maintains records and files.
Coordinates credit card purchases. Approves or disapproves expenditures within line items. Monitors individual account balances of operational and grant funds. Initiates purchases of supplies and equipment in accordance with various schedules. Prioritize purchases of new equipment and upgrades to existing equipment.
Examples of Other Duties:
Assumes the duties of the supervisor in his/her absence. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Training and Experience: Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate equivalent, plus four years’ storekeeping or warehousing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Entry Level):
Thorough knowledge of the methods of receiving, storing, and issuing large quantities of supplies, parts, materials, tools and equipment. Thorough knowledge of storeroom and warehouse inventory methods.
Skill in receiving, storing, and issuing equipment, parts, and supplies. Skill in taking inventory of supplies and equipment. Skill in maintaining records and files. Skill in performing arithmetic functions.
Ability to supervise the work of others. Ability to operate warehouse equipment. Ability to use automated storeroom and warehouse inventory systems. Ability to communicate effectively.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Full Performance):
Knowledge of County and departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of the rules of evidence and the principles and practices of chain of custody.
Skill in supervising the work of others. Skill in operating warehouse equipment. Skill in using automated storeroom and warehouse inventory systems. Skill in adhering to the rules of evidence and the principles and practices of the chain of custody.
Character Requirements: Some positions may require applicants to undergo a comprehensive background investigation, polygraph examination, and drug test.
Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid driver’s license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver’s license is required at the time of appointment.
Supplemental Information
Physical and Environmental Conditions: The work of this classification entails walking, lifting, carrying, travel between work sites and other physical activities.
Conditions of Employment: Some employees in this classification may be required to work overtime with little or no advance notice. Some positions may be designated as Emergency/Essential.
Salary : $37,724 - $47,865
