Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate in arts degree in nursing;

At least two years' professional nursing experience.

Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid license to practice as a professional registered nurse, issued by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses, is required at the time of appointment. Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
Proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education
Applicants are required to submit proof of education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable. - Provides nursing care, health assessments, health guidance, health education, and referral services to individuals, families, groups, and institutions.
- Administers emergency care to patients.
- Provides and assists in the provision of patient case monitoring.
- Assesses and monitors patients' physical and mental states of health.
- Monitors the progress of the patient care plan.
- Oversees and evaluates home-based services.
- Ensures compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
- Assists physicians and others in health clinics.
- Monitors and reports on patients' care plan progress.
- Conducts home visits.
- Performs various health screenings.
- Provides health screening education and counseling in the areas of disease prevention, health maintenance, and mental health.
- Participates in the instruction, orientation, and oversight of new public health nurses.
- Prepares and maintains nursing records and reports.
