Pay Schedule II, Grade 19, Regular Schedule: 40 hours per week
Vacancies exist in the Department of Public Works and Transportation, Bureau of Utilities, Pumping Division.

Under the guidance of an Electrician II, performs electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work.- Installs, tests, and replaces components of electrical circuitry and internal power distribution systems including conduit, wiring, connections, receptacles, breakers, panels, and switches.
- Assists in the testing, repair, and replacement of electrical generators, transformers, and uninterrupted power systems.
- Assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrically operated equipment and appliances including heating, air conditioning, pumping, and solid state control systems.
- Assists in the installation, testing, and repair of door bells, buzzers, fire alarm and security systems, thermostats, lighting fixtures, and communications systems.
- Uses tools and equipment of the electrical trade.
- Reads blueprints, plans, and schematic drawings.
- Follows safety procedures and electrical codes.
- May drive an automobile or light truck to transport workers, tools, or materials between job sites.
- May lead or instruct lesser skilled workers.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Licenses and Certificates
Some positions may require possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver's license at the time of appointment.
EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. The work of this classification entails the performance of heavy physical labor including bending, stooping, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying heavy objects, and the operation of tools and equipment. Some duties require exposure to potentially hazardous conditions such as high voltage electricity and adverse weather. Some duties may require travel between work sites.
Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation
Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening and employment investigation, including, but not limited to criminal background, education certification and fingerprinting checks.
