Responsibilities
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Oversees all planning, implementation, accountability, training, and compliance for the Food and Nutrition Services special programs and initiatives.
- Develops data-informed strategies to enhance participation, quality, and compliance across all programs.
- Serves as liaison to other Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) offices, Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), and community partners to expand access to nutritious meals, wellness, sustainability, and educational opportunities.
- Collaborates with others to promote programs through proactive communication, training, and community outreach. Collaborates with Communications Specialist on nutrition education materials, slide shows, classroom presentations, and marketing strategies to increase awareness and participation in FNS special programs.
- Develops menus, production records, and accountability documentation in accordance with USDA and MSDE regulations.
- Coordinates FFVP operations including grant management, ordering, delivery logistics, school support, and compliance monitoring.
- Conducts site visits, evaluates service quality, and provides technical assistance to ensure high standards throughout program implementation(s).
- Collects and analyzes participation data and feedback to identify trends and develop recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Reviews feedback/survey responses and follows up with schools and staff to ensure issues are addressed and best practices implemented.
- Maintains ongoing communication with principals, teachers, and central office staff regarding program implementation and integration with classroom curriculum.
- Coordinates all operations and logistics for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), including menu planning, training, outreach, site accountability, and coordination of Rural Meal sites in accordance with USDA regulations.
- Oversees registration and site eligibility processes and training for special programs to ensure compliance with USDA and MSDE requirements.
- Coordinates with the BCPS Office of Energy and Sustainability to support Green Schools initiatives within cafeterias, including food waste reduction, composting, and sustainable practices.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for inquiries and concerns related to special programs and ensures timely response and resolution.
- Coordinates initiatives and other outreach activities to engage students and families in wellness and nutrition education.
- Researches new Child Nutrition Programs, grants, and opportunities to enhance services and student access across BCPS.
- Attends MSDE and USDA trainings to remain current with program requirements and recommends and implements updates to maintain compliance.
- Maintains accurate program records, prepares reports for management, and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, food service management, education, public health, or a related field.Three years of experience in school nutrition, food service operations, or community wellness programs. Experience with USDA Child Nutrition Programs and grant-funded program management.
- Experience in data analysis, program evaluation, or community engagement preferred.
