Role Description The IT Infrastructure Network & Telecommunications Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Baltimore, MD. This role oversees the planning, implementation, and maintenance of campus network and telecommunications infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks, voice systems, and related hardware. Daily responsibilities include managing network performance, monitoring system availability, resolving incidents and outages, and coordinating upgrades and patches. The manager leads a technical team, assigns and tracks work, and collaborates with academic and administrative departments to understand requirements and support college-wide initiatives. The role also includes developing and enforcing network security standards, maintaining documentation and diagrams, managing vendor relationships and service contracts, and contributing to disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Network Administration and Network Engineering, including configuration, deployment, and optimization of switches, routers, wireless access points, and voice systems.
- Demonstrated experience in Information Technology infrastructure management, including server, storage, and cloud-integrated environments in an enterprise or campus setting.
- Proficiency in Network Security, including firewalls, VPNs, access controls, segmentation, and security best practices for protecting institutional data and services.
- Advanced Troubleshooting skills for complex network and telecommunications issues, with a methodical approach to root-cause analysis and incident resolution.
- Experience leading or supervising technical teams, including workload prioritization, mentoring, and performance feedback.
- Familiarity with ITIL or similar service management practices and use of ticketing and monitoring tools.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA/CCNP, Network , Security , ITIL) are highly beneficial.
- Experience working in higher education or a public sector environment is a plus.
