What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Engineering Intern position at Baltimore Aircoil Company, Inc.?
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
Join our engineering team and help us take the big step toward automating cooling tower structural design. You’ll get hands-on experience working with real engineering templates, extracting design rules, and turning them into algorithms that can power future automation. Think of it as combining engineering problem-solving with coding smarts.
- Review calculation templates (Excel & Mathcad) for beams, columns, braces, and connections.
- Translate engineering logic into easy-to-follow algorithms.
- Build simple automation scripts (Python or VBA).
- Document workflows with flowcharts and decision trees.
- Test and validate your work against real engineering designs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently pursuing Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering (junior, senior, or M.S.).
- Comfortable with Excel (bonus if you know VBA).
- Some coding experience (Python preferred, MATLAB works too).
- Strong problem-solver who enjoys figuring out how things fit together.
- Interest in the crossover between engineering design and automation.
BAC Hiring Compensation Range $22 - $28 per hour.
BAC provides additional earnings in the form of overtime as applicable under law.
