Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use in accordance with infection prevention management protocols.
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry by providing chairside support and managing dental instruments efficiently.
- Take dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as dental x-ray machines and 3D scanners while maintaining strict adherence to radiation safety standards.
- Manage patient records accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Fuse, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and data security.
- Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures to promote long-term dental wellness.
- Maintain clinical cleanliness by processing dental instruments according to sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques, supporting infection control policies across the clinic.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures is a bonus but not required.
- Dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and infection prevention management.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical documentation practices, and medical coding for accurate record keeping is a plus but also not required.
- Operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and patient management software like Dentrix or Epic.
- Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control policies including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, demonstrating compassion and professionalism at all times.
- Certification in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred; ongoing training in HIPAA compliance is essential for maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
