What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dance Instructor position at Ballet Petite?
Ballet Petite is a wonderful, established company where we teach in the community in DC, Bethesda, and Potomac, and independent and public school Enrichment Programs throughout the greater Washington area. We are now accepting applications for part-time instructors. Candidates may teach as few as 1 or 2 classes per week, or many classes.
The curriculum at Ballet Petite immerses its students in a creative, enriching environment where they are given an all-encompassing dance education with elements of classic literature, dance, music, theater, and the costume arts incorporated into each class. Our enriching performing arts experience focuses on bringing the magic of Ballet Petite to wonderful local schools and our community. We have an amazing curriculum for each level and lesson plans for each class. Teachers will participate in a paid training program.
Requirements:
--Enthusiasm and a joy of working with children.
--All candidates must have a ballet, musical theatre, or dance background.
--Candidates must possess strong character traits and attributes, including creativity, reliability, energy, and a love of the arts that can be shared with children.
–Schedule Needs:
*Fall Session Teachers: Thursday 3:00-6:30 (2 teachers needed!), Friday 1:15-4:45, and/or Sunday 8:30-12:00.
(You do not need to be available for all these times to apply. Training could start as soon as mid-June, and summer and subbing opportunities are also available. Most need for Thursday teachers.)
*Late-August Camp Teachers: Monday-Friday 11:45-3:05
(While not required, reliable transportation is recommended for some of our class/camp locations, as the location is not close to a bus stop.)
--All teachers must be CPR certified within the first month of employment. Teachers must also be willing to undergo a criminal background check.

Salary: $35.00/hour (*training is at $15/hour)
