Shipping Associate Lead

Reports to: Shipping Supervisor

Role overview

Serve as Shipping's senior hands-on employee and primary backup for daily team leadership. Help direct work, train associates, and maintain attention to order accuracy, packaging efficiency, and pickup deadlines. Take over operational supervision when the Supervisor is unavailable, including extended absences. The Supervisor is the primary specialized dock backup; equipment work requires actual qualification. The Lead has no hiring or termination authority.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned verification, packing, labeling, and staging work. Demonstrate the standards expected of other associates and assist where the workload requires support within actual training and qualifications.
  • Communicate the Supervisor's priorities, help direct associates to outstanding work, and monitor progress toward carrier pickup. Address routine workflow problems before they become missed commitments.
  • Train newer employees and reinforce correct order checks and protective, efficient packaging. Help correct mistakes and report recurring performance or training concerns to the Supervisor.
  • Help resolve order discrepancies with RPPC and address routine packing, label, or staging issues. Escalate problems that exceed authority or threaten the day's shipping requirements.
  • Run assignments, priorities, and coordination during Supervisor absences. Keep the Warehouse GM informed and balance personal production with the needs of the whole team. Develop large-pack and equipment skills through assigned cross-training.

What success looks like

The Lead contributes strong personal work, supports associates, and keeps the team coordinated without the Supervisor present. Routine exceptions are resolved promptly and specialized coverage needs are raised in time.
