Primary Purpose Of The Position
The Security Architect is responsible for designing and governing cybersecurity solution architectures that protect Ball Corporation’s enterprise environments while enabling business strategy, digital transformation, and manufacturing reliability requirements. This role ensures cybersecurity controls are designed using secure‑by‑design and secure‑by‑default principles and are aligned to enterprise architecture standards and risk management goals. Working under the direction of the Director, Cybersecurity Architecture & Engineering, the Security Architect provides hands‑on architectural leadership across initiatives spanning IT, cloud, identity, network, endpoint, logging, and OT‑adjacent environments, ensuring designs are scalable, interoperable, operationally sustainable, and measurable.

Essential Responsible Areas
- Develop and maintain security solution architectures aligned to the enterprise cybersecurity architecture strategy, principles, standards, and reference architectures.
- Provide architecture guidance and design oversight for projects and programs, ensuring security requirements are appropriately represented and implemented.
- Establish and apply secure‑by‑design patterns for IT, cloud, identity, network, endpoint, logging, and OT‑adjacent solutions.
- Participate in technology evaluations and architecture reviews to ensure alignment with enterprise security standards and risk management goals.
- Partner with IT and business stakeholder leaders to embed cybersecurity architecture into transformation, modernization, and M&A initiatives.
- Ensure security architectures support scalability, interoperability, operational sustainability, and measurable risk reduction outcomes.
- Collaborate with Cybersecurity Defense Operations to ensure designs support effective detection, response, and operational supportability through logging and monitoring requirements.
- Support regional deployments of security platforms and architectures aligned to global standards while accommodating local operational constraints.
- Partner with regional IT and plant technology teams to address location‑specific architectural challenges.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, or a related discipline required.
- Master’s degree in Information Security, Engineering, or Business preferred.
- Minimum of 8–12 years of experience in cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud, or technology architecture roles, including demonstrated security architecture responsibilities.
- Strong architectural and systems‑thinking capabilities with ability to translate business and risk requirements into practical technical designs.
- Strong collaboration skills across IT, OT, Digital, and business stakeholders.
- Decision‑making skills balancing risk reduction, cost, and operational impact.
- Clear communication skills for both technical and executive audiences.
- Ability to produce clear architecture documentation and implementation guidance that accelerates consistent delivery.
- Strong knowledge across cybersecurity architecture domains including identity, network security, cloud security, endpoint protection, product/application security, and logging.
- Understanding of zero‑trust and defense‑in‑depth architectural models.
- Familiarity with industrial and manufacturing technology environments and constraints, including OT‑adjacent considerations.
- Knowledge of secure system lifecycle practices and technology integration patterns.
- Expected Hiring Salary Range: $110,300 - $157,620 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.)
- This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.

- The preferred location for this role is our Westminster, CO campus; but we will consider a remote candidate, dependent on experience, qualifications and willingness to engage in regular travel to Colorado campus. Hybrid On-Site Work Environment: If based in Colorado, this position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three (3) or more days per work week (with core collaboration days of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Travel and local commute between Ball locations and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
