Job Summary
Balkema Hillside Gravel is seeking a dependable Laborers to join our Gravel Pit team.
This role involves physically demanding tasks in a outdoor environment, requiring safety awareness and teamwork. The ideal candidate will be motivated, reliable, and capable of performing manual labor in a fast-paced setting.
Position Summary:
This position will assist the with production, perform general labor tasks , assist in maintaining plant housekeeping, assist with routine maintenance on plant and equipment and provide assistance in all areas of the plant as needed
Responsibilities
- Maintaining equipment used i the sand and gravel manufacturing process (conveyors, crushers, shakers, feeders, wash plant and power house)
- Shoveling spillage areas
- Lubricating machinery
- Monitor plant conveyors ect.
- Maintain yard and equipment
- Assists with other maintenance as needed
- Follow all safety and environmental rules, regulations and procedures as set forth by company policy, MSHA and other regulators
- Assist with the loading and unloading of gravel and other materials using hand tools and machinery.
- Operate basic equipment such as shovels, wheelbarrows, and small machinery as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Support the team in excavation, grading, and site preparation activities.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
- Assist with maintenance and minor repairs of equipment as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Prior Gravel Pit/Plant Experience
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders on a repetitive basis as needed
- Must be able to stoop, bend and lift 100 lbs from ground to waist level
- Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Must have valid Driver's License
- Must have reliable transportation
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to various tasks as needed.
- MSHA training a plus (will train the right candidate)
