Summary
At Balfour Beatty Construction in Humble, Texas we are currently hiring for Carpenter Concrete Form Setters for the Northeast Water Purification Plant Expansion (NEWPP) Project. The ideal candidate will construct, erect, and install forms for new structures and repairs of existing structures using carpenter's hand tools and power tools.
Essential Functions
- Understand blueprints, sketches or plans for information pertaining to type of form work required: such as lumber or steel forms and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.
- Prepares layouts, using rule and framing square
- Able to use circular saw, drills, hammer drills, and other power tools.
- Assembles cuts and shaped material and fastens them together with nails, screws. pins or bolts and nuts; verifies forms with plumb bob and carpenter's level.
- Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
- Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling above work ground level.
- May weld metal parts to steel structural members.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be able to look at flat drawings or pictures and understand how they would look as solid objects and follow plans and blueprints.
- Must be able to compare and see differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects.
- Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 40 lbs and occasionally move.
- Must be able to climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding: stoop, kneel, crawl or work at heights as required.
Preferred Experience
- Local applicants to Houston, TX are preferred.
- Previous experience as a Carpenter Concrete Form Setter on heavy civil construction projects.
- Work within precise standards of accuracy; rate information using standards which can be measured or checked.
