Child Intervention Worker-Afternoon Floater- Full Time

Baldwin Youth Services, Inc. is seeking a qualified applicants for the full time position of Child Intervention Worker. The position available is our Monday-Friday FLOATER position for during the hours of 2:00pm-10:00pm with weekends off.

Baldwin Youth Services operates three group homes located in the Robertsdale area serving Baldwin County youth. If you are someone who feels called to invest in the lives of children in need, then this job may be for you.

Qualifications: Applicant must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED and must be able to pass a criminal background check once hired. Worker may have to transport youth in our van, so applicant must possess a valid driver’s license. Many of our youth and/or parents speak English as a second language so bi-lingual applicants are encouraged, but it is not a requirement. Applicant must have good communication skills and be able to work well with other staff, juvenile probation officers, family members, and DHR workers in order to assure that the best interests of the children are served. Applicant must be able to work well with challenging youth and be able to establish solid boundaries and maintain structure while engaging in a positive, but firm manner with our youth. Applicant must be able to balance working independently with working as a member of a team. Applicant must have basic computer skills and be able to manage minimal paperwork.

Job description: We are seeking a full time FLOATER for our Monday through Friday afternoon FLOATER shift for the hours of 2:00pm to 10:00pm to be a part of our evening shift team. The shift is 38-40 hours per week and there is occasional opportunities for (optional) paid overtime at a time and a half hourly rate. Worker will be a part of an evening shift team and provide care for up to eight children between the ages of 8-17 who have been placed by DHR, Juvenile Probation, and parent/legal custodian at one of our 3 group homes during the hours listed. Occasionally, this position will fill in on a day shift during the weekday at either of our 3 group homes, based on the needs of the organization. This full time position is Monday-Friday, with weekends off.

Duties are: to keep children engaged in productive tasks at all times; supervise children at all times; cook meals; clean and organize the facility; drive agency van to transport children as needed; assist with school work as needed; administer medications; complete intakes and discharges of children; supervise summer activities; work collaboratively with other evening shift team members, and other duties as assigned.
