Position Title: School Reception Associate
Pay Grade: 3 Period of Employment: 9 months

Supervised by and/or Reports to: Building Administrator
General Responsibilities: Serves as first point of contact to greet and monitor the entrance/exit of all guests, volunteers, students, school and non-school personnel seeking access to the school building.
Essential Duties:

- Serves as the first impression of the school, answers questions, directs visitors, and helps people navigate through the school.
- Reports any unsafe conditions or emergency situations to the administrator.
- Maintains information/activities bulletin boards.
- Establishes a rapport with the students and staff through informal daily interactions.
- Assists the administration with locating students.
- Assists with students experiencing tardy/attendance issues.
- Interacts with parents and shares relevant information regarding the community with administration.
- Detects and reports unauthorized or suspicious persons, vehicles, and activities.
- Provides support to school administration and staff to ensure the smooth operation of the school.
- Utilizes the Raptor System (as appropriate per specific school) to sign students, non-school personnel and volunteers in and out of the school; facilitates background checks; runs reports; tracks visitor movement/activity; tracks parent/teacher conferences.
- Utilizes PowerSchool to log tardies (as appropriate per specific school).
- Posts notification of drills on school doors to inform guests and parents (as appropriate per specific school.)
- Creates and maintains sign-in logs (as appropriate per specific school).
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Strong customer service skills, able to communicate effectively with students, staff, administration, and parents and set a positive tone, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to take direction and plan actions.
- Ability to monitor students in unstructured situations.
- Exercises excellent decision making and problem- solving skills.
- Serve as role model.
Requisite Education and Experience:
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must complete a course in non-violent crisis intervention.
Physical Requirements:
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to: a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, or repetitive motions required.
