In this role, you will be responsible for breaking down large wholesale cuts into high-quality portions, including steaks, chops, and roasts, while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and product quality. Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and properly store meat deliveries to ensure quality and freshness
- Cut, trim, debone, and grind meat according to company standards and customer specifications
- Accurately weigh, label, and package meat products for distribution
- Operate and maintain cutting tools and equipment, including knives, saws, and grinders
- Perform routine quality checks to identify spoilage or inconsistencies
- Maintain clean and sanitary work areas in compliance with food safety regulations
- Follow HACCP, GMP, SSOP, and company SOPs at all times
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with product rotation (FIFO/FEFO) to minimize waste
- Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals and maintain workflow efficiency
- Maintain proper documentation for food safety and regulatory compliance
- 2 years of experience in a butcher or meat processing role
- Strong knowledge of meat cuts, trimming techniques, and animal anatomy
- Proficient knife skills and experience using meat processing equipment
- Familiarity with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, SSOP)
- Food Handler’s Certification or willingness to obtain
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Basic math and measurement skills for weighing and portioning
- Ability to lift and move 50 lbs regularly
- Comfortable standing and walking for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
- Ability to work in a cold, refrigerated environment (36–38°F)
- Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and repetitive hand motions
- Ability to safely operate tools and equipment, including electric pallet jacks
- Full-time position
- Flexible schedule required, including weekends and holidays as needed
- Cold, wet, and production-based warehouse environment
