Restaurant Host/Server

Job Description

Greets guests in person and by telephone using high standards of etiquette and polish; provides seating in a timely manner. Responsible for serving food and handling cash register transactions.

Duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned).

• Greets each guest in a prompt and courteous manner.
• Answers telephones promptly, and professionally; offers information about restaurant (hours, directions, menu information).
• Seats guests as quickly as possible and ensures guests’ comfort if there is a waiting period.
• Provides menus as guest is seated, removes or adds extra place settings if necessary.
• Tells guests about specials and any menu changes.
• Rotates server stations when seating guests; assists service staff in making certain that tables are cleaned and set properly
• Takes, places, delivers and serves food and beverage orders.
• Times food orders correctly to ensure that foods comes up at the proper time.
• Delivers food to table and serves it correctly according to pivot point.
• Performs all side work regularly, promptly and correctly.
• Accurately posts transactions on cash register and makes correct change.
• Responsible for all transactions, including cash, credit card, vouchers, comps, etc. that take place on one's register.

Education/Experience

• High School graduate or GED equivalent.
• Prior money handling experience.
• Previous experience in customer service-oriented position.

Language Ability:

Must be able to effectively read, write, and speak the English language.

Math Ability:

• Basic arithmetic

Reasoning Ability:

• Organizational skills.
• Knowledge of equipment.
• Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate with guests, front of house and back of house staff, and leadership at all levels.

Computer Skills:

• Must possess basic computer skills and the ability to learn and accurately use new software.

Certificates and Licenses:

• Alcohol Awareness Card

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
• Must have the ability to bend and reach throughout entire shift.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to tolerate a casino environment and all that it includes.

Job Type: Full-time
