POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for preparing and maintaining drums and cylinders in accordance with established operational, maintenance, and safety standards. Duties include the use of hand tools, material handling, forklift transporting, and maintaining clean, safe, and organized work areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Transport containers between the Bulk Packaging Warehouse and the Maintenance Shop using an electric forklift. Inspect containers for proper identification and damage, and stage containers as required.
- Remove, install, and maintain mechanical components, including valves, fuse plugs, and related fittings.
- Perform internal visual inspections of containers, drums, and cylinders to verify condition and compliance with applicable standards.
- Remove labels and clean container exteriors to maintain appearance and readiness for service.
- Conduct pressurized leak testing on mechanical fittings and components to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Operate material handling and maintenance equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, chain hoists, torque wrenches, and other hand and power tools.
- Operate and maintain sandblasting, dust collection, and paint booth equipment in accordance with established procedures.
- Learn, understand, comply with, and assist in the development and improvement of documented policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Collaborate effectively within a team environment while maintaining positive working relationships with coworkers and other departments.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist in maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-organized maintenance department.
- Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships across functional departments to support operational goals.
- Complete all required documentation accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner to ensure traceability, compliance, and accountability for all maintenance activities.
- Perform routine housekeeping activities, including cleaning, washing, disassembling, and reassembling equipment, to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
- Complete all required safety training and comply with company safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support business and operational needs.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- 1-2 years related experience within maintenance function of a manufacturing environment.
- Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Continuous physical activity, including walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds, and moving loads up to 1,000 pounds using manual handling equipment.
- Ability to distinguish colors and safely operate a forklift.
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to varying temperatures, elevated noise levels, moving mechanical parts, and monitored chemical exposure; use of protective clothing and PPE required for specific tasks.
