Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential part time evening support for an adult male with varying needs in his home and community settings. The ideal candidate will be committed to enhancing the quality of life for an adult autistic male, promoting independence, and fostering a supportive environment. This role requires a blend of personal care skills and the ability to engage with client in meaningful ways. Shift is from 4PM to 8PM Monday through Friday.
Duties
- Assist client with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Provide medication administration as prescribed, ensuring compliance with health guidelines.
- Offer support and companionship to a gentleman with autism, utilizing effective communication strategies tailored to his needs.
- Implement individualized care plans designed to meet the specific goals of the client.
- Assist client in participating in community activities and social events to promote engagement and socialization.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, adhering to health and safety protocols at all times.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to ensure comprehensive care.
Requirements
- Ability to work 4:00 PM-8:00 PM Monday through Friday
- Previous experience in home community care or home health is preferred.
- Experience in working with individuals on the autism spectrum is highly desirable.
- Certification in CPR is a plus; willingness to obtain certification if not already held.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with client, family, and team members.
